Bosom Pals MK

Welcome to Bosom Pals MK

Bosom Pals is a primary Breast Cancer Support Group in Milton Keynes and is run wholly by patients.

1991 the group was established by two breast cancer patients with the help of the breast care nurse at Milton Keynes Hospital. At that time there was limited information and no one to talk to about what is a frightening situation. Since then the group has gone from strength to strength and helped many who have experienced breast cancer and their families.

2014 we also invited ladies treated for a Gynaecological cancer to join us because there is nothing provided locally.

2015 we first provided Goodie bags for all breast and gynae patients having surgery in Milton Keynes University Hospital.  Later the breast care nurses asked that we provide a Goodie bag suitable for men having breast surgery.

This led to our first contact from a man with breast cancer.  Since then we have introduced "Open evenings" where men with experience of breast cancer can join us.  Usually these are special interest and information evenings. Men are always welcome to join us at our Dobbies afternoon “tea and cake” meetings, which are relaxed and friendly. Other opportunities open to all, including family and friends, are our summer barbecue, Christmas party, Christmas meal and theatre outings.

2020 On 2nd June 2020 Bosom Pals was the recipient of the Queens Award for Voluntary Service after nomination by the Community Foundation MK. Due to Covid-19 a small presentation was held at AgeUK MK. with the Lord Lieutenant of Buckinghamshire, the High Sheriff of Buckinghamshire and the Mayor of Milton Keynes.

Until Covid19 restrictions are ended our monthly meetings are held on-line. Please look at our "About Us" page for information on the support we can offer and the
